Frequently Asked Questions
Is my audio uploaded anywhere?▼
No. The recording is made and stored in your browser only; it is gone when you close the page unless you download it.
Which formats can I download?▼
MP3, WAV, or the original file your browser recorded (WebM in Chrome, Firefox and Edge; M4A in Safari). The original file is the smallest and needs no conversion.
Why does MP3 take a moment the first time?▼
The MP3 encoder (about 30 MB) is downloaded the first time you use it and then cached by your browser.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?▼
Yes, in current versions of Safari and Chrome. Your browser will ask for microphone permission first.
Is there a time limit?▼
No fixed limit, but very long recordings use a lot of memory, especially when converting to WAV or MP3 on a phone.
