Free Online Screen Recorder, No Watermark

Record your screen, a window or a tab with your voice and an optional webcam bubble, cut out the mistakes, add automatic captions, and download MP4. It runs in your browser: no install, no account, and your video and audio are never uploaded.

How to use it

Pick what to record: Screen, Screen + Camera (your face in a bubble) or Camera only.
For Screen + Camera, drag the camera bubble wherever you want it and drag its corner to resize. Mirror and shape are one click away.
Turn your microphone on or off and pick which one to use; a live level meter shows it's working ("Check mic").
Optionally open More options for computer audio, background-noise reduction, floating controls, 720p/1080p/native resolution, 30 or 60 fps, the countdown length and an auto-stop time.
Click Start recording and choose the screen, window or tab to share. In Chrome and Edge the countdown also appears in a small floating controls window that stays on top.
Pause and resume as needed, then stop with the floating controls, the Stop button (or Esc) on this page, or your browser's "Stop sharing" button.
Trim the start and end, split the clip and delete any parts you don't want, and pick a speed.
Optionally click Generate captions: speech is transcribed on your device (auto-detect or pick the language, or translate to English). Fix any words, merge or split captions, and choose their size, position and colour.
Download as MP4 (with captions burned in or as a subtitle track), WebM, GIF or audio only (MP3/WAV), each part separately as a ZIP, and the captions as SRT, VTT or a plain-text transcript.

Is it really free, with no watermark?▼

Yes. There is no watermark, no time limit and no account. The site is supported by ads.

Do I need to download or install anything?▼

No. It works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop. The only download is an optional video engine (about 30 MB, loaded the first time you edit or convert) that runs inside the page.

What if my browser crashes or I close the tab by accident?▼

While you record, the video is continuously backed up in your browser's storage. When you come back to this page it offers to recover the last recording (up to the last second or so before the page closed), even if you had stopped but not downloaded it. The backup is deleted once you download or discard the recording. If the browser runs out of storage space, recording continues normally and the page tells you the backup has paused.

Can I record my webcam at the same time as my screen?▼

Yes. Choose Screen + Camera and your webcam appears as a round or rounded-square bubble. Drag it anywhere (it snaps to the edges and centre), drag its corner to resize, or use the S/M/L sizes. You can also mirror it, and move or resize it while recording.

What quality can I record in?▼

Choose 720p, 1080p (the default) or Native, which uses your screen's or camera's own resolution up to 1440p, at 30 or 60 frames per second. Higher settings make bigger files and slower edits, and 60 fps is only reached if your screen or camera delivers it.

How do I stop the recording?▼

In Chrome and Edge a small floating window stays on top of other tabs and apps with Pause, Stop and a mute button. You can also come back to this tab (its title shows ● REC and the elapsed time) and press Stop or Esc, or use your browser's own "Stop sharing" button. You can also set an auto-stop time (1 to 30 minutes, or your own) under More options.

Can I cut a mistake out of the middle?▼

Yes. After you stop, move to the start of the mistake and click Split at playhead, do the same at its end, then delete that part. The kept parts are joined into one video when you download (this re-encodes on your device, so long recordings take a while). Undo is available, and you can also download the parts separately as a ZIP.

How do I add captions or subtitles to my recording?▼

After recording, click Generate captions. The speech is transcribed by an AI model (OpenAI's Whisper) running in your browser, and split into readable captions of up to two lines. You can edit the text, merge, split, delete or nudge captions, and change their size, position, colour and background. Then download SRT or VTT files, a plain transcript, or an MP4 with the captions burned in or as a subtitle track viewers can switch on and off.

Is my audio uploaded for transcription?▼

No. The speech recognition model runs on your own device, so your audio never leaves it. The model is downloaded once from Hugging Face and then cached: about 65 MB for Fast, 140 MB for Balanced and 250 MB for Most accurate (somewhat more when your browser uses the GPU).

Which languages can it transcribe, and how accurate is it?▼

Whisper understands dozens of languages and can detect the language automatically or translate the speech to English. Balanced is a good default; Fast is quickest and best on phones; Most accurate is slower and a bigger download. It works best with clear speech and little background noise, and you can correct any mistakes before exporting. Burned-in captions use a font for Latin, Greek and Cyrillic scripts, so for languages such as Chinese, Japanese or Arabic use the SRT/VTT files or the subtitle track instead.

Do captions stay in sync if I cut or speed up the video?▼

Yes. Captions are tied to the original recording, so trimming, deleting parts and changing the speed are applied to them automatically when you download. Parts you delete lose their captions; if you restore a part later, generate the captions again.

Can I speed up the video?▼

Yes. Pick 1.25×, 1.5× or 2× when downloading MP4, GIF or audio. Voices are sped up without sounding higher-pitched, and the page shows the resulting length.

Can I download just the audio?▼

Yes. Choose "Audio only (MP3)" (or WAV) under Download as. Your trims, deleted parts and speed are applied. It's unavailable if the recording has no sound.

Can I record system or computer audio?▼

In Chrome and Edge on desktop, yes: when sharing a browser tab, keep "Share tab audio" on (on Windows you can also share system audio with the whole screen). Safari and Firefox don't allow websites to capture computer audio, but your microphone still works. "Reduce background noise" applies your browser's noise suppression, echo cancellation and automatic volume to the microphone; turn it off for music or if your voice sounds processed.

Does it work on iPhone or Android?▼

Mobile browsers don't let websites record the screen, so on phones you can use Camera mode to record video from your front or back camera. To record your phone's screen, use its built-in screen recorder.

What format is the video?▼

Chrome, Edge and Safari record MP4 (H.264) directly, which downloads instantly. Firefox records WebM, which you can download as-is (or with the end cut off) or convert to MP4 in the browser; edits that cut the start, join parts or change speed are saved as MP4.

Is there a length limit?▼

No fixed limit. The recording is kept in memory until you download it (roughly 20-40 MB per minute at 1080p/30, more at higher settings), so for very long sessions download regularly.

Privacy & Security

The recording is made by your browser. While you record, a backup is kept in this browser's own storage (never on a server) so it can be recovered if the page closes; it is deleted when you download or discard the recording. Trimming, joining, converting and captioning also happen locally: for captions, only the speech model itself is downloaded (once, from Hugging Face); your audio never leaves your device.
