UUID Generator (v4 & v7)
Generate UUIDs for database keys, test data and identifiers: random v4 or sortable v7, one or a thousand at a time, in the format you need.
Version

- Set how many you need and the format (uppercase, hyphens, braces).
- Press Generate, then copy one, copy all or download a .txt file.
Common Use Cases
- Database primary keys
- Test fixtures and seed data
- Request and trace IDs
- GUIDs for Windows/.NET (braces, uppercase)
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I use v4 or v7?▼
v4 is fully random. v7 starts with a millisecond timestamp, so IDs sort by creation time, which keeps database indexes efficient. Both are standard (RFC 9562).
Are they unique?▼
For practical purposes, yes. v4 has 122 random bits. v7 combines the timestamp with a counter and 62 random bits, and IDs created in the same millisecond still sort in order.
Is a GUID the same as a UUID?▼
Yes. GUID is Microsoft's name for a UUID. Use the uppercase and braces options for the {XXXXXXXX-…} style.
